Al-Hilal have officially purchased Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio in a deal worth €40m, announcing him with a video referencing his football family heritage.

The midfielder is the son of former player and coach Nikola Milinkovic, while his younger brother Vanja Milinkovic-Savic is the goalkeeper of Torino and the Serbia national team.

This heritage is outlined in a video made for the announcement, after Milinkovic-Savic signed a three-year contract with option for a fourth.

However, there is also audible Italian commentary in the background and that is easily identifiable as the Sky Sport Italia coverage of Italy’s 2006 World Cup semi-final against Germany, so has nothing at all to do with Milinkovic-Savic.

It is reported he will earn circa €20m per season in wages.

Milinkovic-Savic had been at Lazio since 2015 and was down to the final year of his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 28-year-old leaves after 341 appearances in the Lazio jersey, scoring 69 goals and providing 59 assists.
