Ajax have announced their intention to send back Mohamed Ihattaren to Juventus in January.

The 20-year-old Dutch midfielder joined the Amsterdam outfit on loan in January of this year, keen to return focus to the pitch after a difficult time in Italy. Ihattaren has not made a single appearance for Ajax this season, remaining absent due to personal matters.

As announced by Ajax, they do not intend to active the buy option attached to Ihattaren’s loan deal and won’t renew it when it expires on January 3, meaning he’ll return to Juventus. The 20-year-old only made one four-minute appearance for the club, appearing briefly in the Dutch Cup final against PSV.

Juventus signed Ihattaren from PSV in August 2021 in a deal worth around €2m, picking up a highly rated but troubled talent. He was immediately loaned out to Sampdoria but this proved to be a disaster and he returned after just six months, immediately returning to head to the Netherlands with Ajax.
