Brazil have confirmed that Juventus defender Danilo suffered an ankle injury in their 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday and his condition will be assessed daily.

The Bianconeri defender started in Brazil’s victory against Serbia yesterday but ended the match limping in pain and Brazil have now confirmed that the experienced defender has suffered an ankle injury.

The Brazilian federation said that the ex-Manchester City full-back would be assessed daily, but according to TNT Sports Brazil, the 31-year-old will miss the next two games against Cameroon and Switzerland.

Neymar was also diagnosed with an ankle injury and is likely to miss the next two group-stage games.

Danilo joined Juventus in a €37m deal from Manchester City in 2019 and has played 129 games with the Old Lady, scoring five goals.

He won one Serie A title, one Supercoppa and one Coppa Italia during his spell at the Allianz Stadium where his contract runs out in June 2024.

The versatile defender has 47 international caps to his name.

2 thought on “Official: after Neymar, Brazil lose Danilo to injury”
  1. Neymar should be out completely after wearing those shorts with 6 stars . Arrogant team hope they choke

  2. Brasil can cope without Neymar and maybe a blessing in disguise as they will play more like a team as opposed to focusing on him. As for Cafu no big loss. At nearly 40 Dani Alves will still be a better choice even if he was 50. Brick layer is lucky to have even been picked. Tite must have had something put in his coffee. Same for Roberto Carlos of the left.
