Official: After Maldini, Milan part company with Massara

After sacking Paolo Maldini, Milan have also announced the departure of director of sport Frederic Massara in an extremely brief statement, with links already to Roma and Juventus.

“AC Milan announces that Frederic Massara concludes his role at the Club.

“The Club thanks Ricky for his contributions to AC Milan’s growth during his tenure with us.”

Massara, known to most as Ricky, was Maldini’s right-hand man in the Milan transfer strategy and they were often sat together when presenting a new signing or contract extension.

Unlike the sacking of club icon Maldini, it is reported that Massara negotiated a termination of the contract by mutual consent, which is why it was not announced until this afternoon.

He had been at the club since July 2019 and was under contract until June 2024.

Before this experience, Massara was a director at Palermo, then from 2011 to 2019 had various roles at Roma.

He has been linked with a move back to the Giallorossi, although Juventus are also interested in their hunt for a new director of sport, as Napoli seem unwilling to release Cristiano Giuntoli.
