Massimo Oddo assures Udinese have “good potential” but warns their poor form wasn’t just down to Luigi Del Neri.

The Zebrette sacked their Coach earlier today, bringing in the former Pescara boss to replace him, and the new Coach spoke in a Press conference this afternoon.

“I thank the club for the opportunity, and also Mr Del Neri,” Oddo began by saying.

“I know that when things aren’t going well it’s not just just the Coach’s fault, I’ve been there. I’m very happy, this is a club with ambition and great facilities, the training ground and the stadium for example.

“I have my own philosophy and I’m convinced that this squad has good potential, there are individual talents and very promising youngsters who need to improve.

“I’m a Coach that adapts to suit his players and not vice-versa, so I don’t have a predetermined formation in mind. It’s not that what you’ve seen in my previous teams will be replicated here.

“I’ve also asked about some of the young players from the Primavera, from today everyone starts from scratch.”

Udinese are known for their multi-cultural squad, with players from Brazil, Iraq, the Czech Republic and the Ivory Coast just to name a few.

“I know they’re all taking Italian lessons, if not we’ll talk in English, it’s no problem. If they show they’re up to it, even the youngest will play.

“My aim is to win the label of a winning Coach, something I achieved in Serie B but never managed in Serie A.

“Maxi Lopez? I think he’s a very strong player, so it depends on him. For me he’s equal to all the others.”
