Oddo: ‘Pescara dominated Roma’

Massimo Oddo felt Pescara “dominated Roma after a nightmare start” and deserved more from a 3-2 defeat at the Olimpico.

Edin Dzeko had the hosts 2-0 up within 10 minutes, but the Delfini – who were decimated by injuries – repeatedly fought back after the restart and set up a very tense finale.

“It was a nightmare start and we conceded two goals straight away, but in the second half we dominated Roma,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We are here commenting on a defeat, but the performance was excellent, at least for 45 minutes. Throughout the season we have always created chances, but don’t finish them off, partly because we’ve been effectively without centre-forwards.

“Today we were without four centre-backs and used full-backs (Cristiano) Biraghi and (Davide) Vitturini in the centre.

“We mustn’t let our heads drop, because if this is the response, I believe even more. We played a certain style of football for two years, then changed a few things to give more solidity to the defence, so obviously that’s going to have a knock-on effect.

“We need to find our balance again. Unfortunately the injuries have really damaged us. (Norbert) Gyomber has been out for two months, we lost (Jean-Christophe) Bahebeck after a few minutes tonight on his comeback.

“If I was a magician, I’d always field our best players. Today we were in an emergency situation, yet in the second half played as well as we’ve done this season.

“Unfortunately, once again we go home empty-handed.”
