Inter president Steven Zhang owes US fund Oaktree over €300m and they’ve reportedly started to plan what they’d do with the club should the debt not be paid.

The Nerazzurri president agreed a loan with Oaktree back in 2021, which started out as €275m and has since grown to over €300m due to its 12% interest rate.

Zhang now needs to find a way to pay the US fund before May 2024, which is when the deal would expire and Oaktree would take ownership of Inter.

As reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, Oaktree have already started to consider what they’d do with Inter should the takeover occur in May 2024, planning to immediately and personally take charge of finding possible buyers.

In the meantime, Nerazzurri president Zhang needs to attend two court hearings in Hong Kong, on April 24 and May 10, to answer for another debt, owing China Construction Bank a similarly large sum.
