Representatives of new Inter owners Oaktree met with club directors Beppe Marotta and Alessandro Antonello in Milan today, just hours after Suning lost control.

The Zhang family did not meet the deadline to repay the €275m plus interest loan that was given to them in 2021 to get through the post-pandemic financial period.

Therefore, Oaktree today announced they were repossessing the club shares, much the same as when Elliott Management took over Milan from Yonghong Li over an unpaid loan in 2019.

Oaktree meet with Inter directors

Oaktree are moving fast, as today Global Opportunities strategy Managing Director Katherine Ralph and Managing Director and Co-Head Europe for Global Opportunities Alejandro Cano were in Milan.

They met with Inter CEO Sport Giuseppe Marotta and CEO Corporate Alessandro Antonello.

The American vulture fund are eager to retain confidence with the current Inter chief executives, who have effectively been running the club with very little influence from the Zhang family for several years anyway.

They are expected to continue in that vein, while the new owners look for buyers to sell on the club.
