Lazio are negotiating with Arsenal for left-back Nuno Tavares and tomorrow could be decisive, but there are still problems around the €9m plus add-ons asking price.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, there will be a special conference call on Wednesday that could be make or break for this deal.

Arsenal are asking for €8-9m for the player, plus a large percentage of his future sale fee, whereas the offer from Lazio is significantly lower.

The Aquile feel it is unreasonable, considering Nuno Tavares is already into the final year of his contract, which is due to expire in June 2025.

Lazio had been discussing Mason Greenwood with Manchester United, but were out-bid by Olympique Marseille.

Nuno Tavares did not make a mark at Arsenal

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, and before that was playing for Olympique Marseille.

Arsenal paid €8m to purchase him from Benfica in the summer of 2021, but he only made 28 appearances for the club, contributing one goal and two assists.

The Nottingham Forest loan wasn’t that successful either with only 12 games all season, including six weeks out with injury.
