Lazio confirm they have ‘reached an agreement’ with Arsenal for Nuno Tavares, which is reported to be worth €7m and with Matteo Guendouzi a key element.

Speaking at a press conference today to present new signing Tijjani Noslin from Verona, Biancocelesti director Angelo Mariano Fabiani also spoke about the Tavares deal.

“Lazio are strongly interested, and an agreement between the clubs was reached yesterday,” said Fabiani.

According to Sportitalia, that agreement is a loan with obligation to buy for a total fee of circa €7m.

That is a discount of around €3m from the original asking price set by Arsenal.

Guendouzi crucial for Nuno Tavares

The same source also notes that Guendouzi was a very helpful figure in making the transfer happen and convincing Nuno Tavares to join Lazio.

This is because they were teammates both at Arsenal and again with Olympique Marseille.

The final details are expected to be resolved within the next 24 hours, so the Portuguese full-back can have his Lazio medical by the end of the week.

He spent the last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
