Nottingham Forest have reportedly opened talks with Atalanta to discuss a deal for midfielder Remo Freuler.

The newly promoted Premier League side have been working hard to strengthen their squad this summer ahead of their topflight campaign, desperate to avoid dropping straight back into the Championship. The two-time European champions have already spent over €80m on players this transfer window but still have a few more targets in mind.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Nottingham Forest are currently negotiating a deal with Atalanta for Freuler, keen to add the experienced Switzerland international to their midfield.

The 30-year-old Swiss midfielder is contracted to the Bergamo side until 2025 and has an estimated market value of around €20m.

Updates are expected soon, with clubs keen to resolve their business quickly as the transfer window begins to draw to an end.

Freuler has scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists in 259 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta.
