The Nerazzurri, who are known to be looking to bolster their defensive options on transfer deadline day, emerged as one of the main suitors for the 25-year-old’s services.
However, the centre-back’s father, also his agent, has been quoted as saying that his son will be remaining in North London for the foreseeable future.
“I am his agent and I’m here relaxing at home,” he is reported as saying by numerous outlets. “Nothing will happen today.”
As such, Inter will have to turn their attentions to other defenders as their search for deadline day reinforcements continues.
