Several Roma players are taking to social media to salute Daniele De Rossi after the club unexpectedly decided to fire the coach on Wednesday morning.
Roma players sent messages to their former coach, De Rossi, on Wednesday after the club confirmed his sacking.
Stephan El Shaarawy shared one of the fondest thoughts as he posted a picture with his former manager accompanied by a long caption that defines De Rossi ‘a lord of football’.
“First as a teammate and then as a coach, you proved that what I’ve always thought of you was true”, El Shaarawy wrote.
“You’re a lord of football, you were a point of reference not just on a technical level, but especially for your charisma and your ability to be a leader inside the dressing room”.
“This isn’t certainly the ending we expected for what you are and what you represent for this city, but we won’t forget what you gave us, even if it was for a short time”.
“I can only wish you all the best for your future because that’s what you deserve. Thanks for everything you’ve done; I love you, Dani.”
Gianluca Mancini, who was among the irreplaceable under De Rossi, also posted a picture of him hugging his former coach, with a brief text adding that “it was a pleasure and an honour to work with you”.
Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini joined the list of Giallorossi players paying tribute to De Rossi:
“You were a reference point since I was a kid”, he wrote.
“You were a teammate and a friend, a captain, a coach”.
Angelino and Bryan Cristante also thanked De Rossi, which was promptly replaced by the club, who announced the appointment of coach Ivan Juric on Wednesday afternoon.
