Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali insists “it’s not just Napoli” who want Matteo Politano, despite Juventus' denials.
The winger is believed to be close to joining the Partenopei, with reports a deal could be found for around €18m plus Adam Ounas on loan.
Juve were also thought to be interested, but general manager Beppe Marotta confirmed yesterday they won’t sign anyone this month.
Despite that, the Neroverdi insist it’s not only Napoli who are interested in Politano.
“He has the desire to go to a big club,” Carnevali confirmed, speaking to reporters after the FIGC meeting last night.
“I don’t know if it will be Napoli or another club, because it’s not just Napoli who are interested.
“We have to look after Sassuolo, if that conflicts with the lad’s will we’d be sorry but we renewed his contract not long ago and I think it’s only fair to the club, his teammates and the fans to respect that.
“We’ll see if there’s anything new, these will be important hours. There’s not just them [Napoli], other clubs are interested in Politano.
“We try to avoid selling players we consider important in January, just like we did with [Simone] Zaza and [Gregoire] Defrel.
“Juve are interested in the player, we don’t have to hide that, but we’re not talking about the financial aspect.
“When will we decide? Before 11pm on Wednesday.”
