Max Allegri returns to the Juventus bench after a two-year sabbatical and only Diego Simeone has won more games in the last seven seasons for Europe’s top five leagues, but nobody can match his 74 per cent win rate.

The tactician won five consecutive Serie A titles with the Bianconeri, yet was dismissed with a year left on his contract.

He sat out that season and the next, waiting for the right opportunity, which proved to be coming straight back to pick up where he’d left off.

Allegri has still won 142 out of 190 Serie A matches over the last seven years, which averages out at a 74.7 per cent win rate.

That means even though he worked at Atletico Madrid throughout Allegri’s two-year time out, Simeone still only managed 21 more victories than the Italian.

Simeone oversaw 163 Liga wins in his last 266 Liga matches, which is a 61.2 per cent win rate.

Pep Guardiola is just behind Allegri, with 140 wins in 190 Premier League fixtures (73.6 per cent), followed by Jurgen Klopp with 138 successes in 220 top flight games (62.7 per cent).
