Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali has ruled out the January return of Simone Zaza or Domenico Berardi leaving.

It had been suggested that out-of-favour Bianconeri striker Zaza could return on loan to the club where he made his name, with Berardi heading the other way.

However, Carnevali rubbished the rumours as well as touching on the status of sought-after full-back Sime Vrsaljko.

However, Carnevali rubbished the rumours as well as touching on the status of sought-after full-back Sime Vrsaljko.

"For the moment there is no truth in Zaza coming back and Berardi going to Juventus, we haven’t talked about this with Juve and nor have we thought of a return,” he said to Radio Uno.

“We have made some decisions, we sold Zaza to Juventus and it’s not right to think of his return here to us, we’re moving forward with our project.

“We’ve tried to change as little as possible.

"We have had significant requests for Vrsaljko and others but we wanted to keep the core of the team."
