There’s no rest for Olivier Giroud, as he has played all of Milan’s nine games this season and starts for France with Mike Maignan in the Nations League against Austria.

It kicks off at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) and a defeat could see Les Bleus demoted to the Nations League B.

With Karim Benzema injured, Giroud earned a recall and coach Didier Deschamps has thrown him into the starting XI along with Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann.

His Milan teammate Maignan is also given the nod in goal with Hugo Lloris out of action.

It means no rest for Giroud, who will turn 36 on September 30.

He played all nine of the Rossoneri’s club games this season, starting seven of them, between Serie A and the Champions League.

There were only substitute roles in the opening two Serie A matches against Udinese and Atalanta, so the centre-forward has started every match since August 27, making tonight’s his eighth in a row.

It represents Giroud’s 113th senior cap for France, in which he so far has 48 goals.

As for goalkeeper Maignan, despite his excellent performances in Serie A, it is only his fifth cap.
