Palermo have revealed that they did think about making a January bid for Lazio forward Sergio Floccari, but ruled out any move for Mauro Zarate.

“Floccari is a player who could have been of interest to us this month, but Lazio are right to keep a tight grip on him,” Palermo Vice-President Guglielmo Micciche noted.

“As for Zarate, we are not looking for a player with his characteristics.”

The capital club are expected to keep the Italian in their squad after Tommaso Rocchi left for Inter last week.

Zarate is available for transfer as he has appeared in just one League game for the Biancocelesti since returning from his one-season loan at Inter.

Palermo are currently pursuing Galatasaray forward Milan Baros.
