Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is not expecting any more signings – ‘I think Milan’s transfer campaign is over’.

The Rossoneri completed the signing of Genoa midfielder Juraj Kucka this afternoon, and the Serbian Coach expects the Slovakian to be the last arrival this summer.

“I think Milan’s transfer campaign is over,” Mihajlovic told reporters in his pre-Empoli Press conference.

“I don’t know if there will be something last-minute. Getting Kucka is excellent value for money. Now it’s up to him to show that he has to play.

“With [Mario] Balotelli it depends on the game, there may be some games where we use him as an attacking midfielder, or in a front-three. Kucka will play in midfield.

“We’ve reinforced a lot, it’s a different team from last year, so it also takes time to put things right.

“I’m happy with what we’ve done, and I think there’s still more space to improve, so I think you’ll see even more improvement in a few weeks.”

Riccardo Montolivo hasn’t played in either of the Diavolo’s two competitive fixtures so far this season, but Mihajlovic insists he’ll get his chance.

“I spoke with Riccardo today. We know what he said. He’s had a bad injury [a broken leg], and he’s training well.

“He lacks match sharpness, but matches are the best training. We just have to choose the right moment.”

Milan have used a 4-3-1-2 formation so far this season, but the Coach says he wants to prepare other systems too.

“I always like to have alternative formations,” Mihajlovic explained.

“But we have some injuries to our wide players. When we’ve got some players back we’ll have an alternate formation, maybe 4-3-3.

“We’ll continue to use 4-3-1-2 as our starting point, because we’ve been working on it for two months.

“Keisuke Honda? With this formation he can only play as the trequartista. If we were to change formation then he could play out wide.

“He could also have the characteristics to play in central midfield, but we’ve never tried him there. He’s a generous lad, and being Japanese he’s very hard-working and learns quickly.

“Will he play tomorrow? I think so, unless something happens to him tonight. As long as some samurai or ninjas don’t wake him in the night!”
