Gasperini was replaced by Claudio Ranieri in September after an horrendous start to his Nerazzurri career.
Zola was one of many names suggested with the hotseat, but he insists that nobody got in touch about the vacant role.
"After Gasperini's dismissal, I was a potential candidate for the Nerazzurri job," he stated. "However, I wasn't contacted.
"I continue to Coach, but no teams have come forward for my services," added the former Chelsea playing legend.
"My family still live in London so I therefore would like to return to work in English football.
"What would I do if a Russian club wanted me? I'd think about it."
Zola, 45, signed a three-year deal with West Ham United in September 2008, but that managerial contract was rescinded in May 2010.
Turning to Serie A matters, Zola insisted that it was too soon to say with any certainty what will occur in the Scudetto race.
"Milan and Inter have started badly, while Napoli and Juventus” data-scaytid=”17″>Juventus have shown that they can be competitive.
"There is a long way to go in the season though…"
