Disgraced broker Massimo Bochicchio’s death still puzzles investigators and the €70m owed to various members of society and sport will never be repaid.

Corriere della Sera details how the 56-year-old former VIP broker passed away in suspicious circumstances on June 19 last year after a motorbike crash in the Parioli area of Rome.

On October 5, judges of the seventh collegiate section of the Court of Rome decided to close criminal proceedings ‘due to the death of the offender’. Bochicchio was charged with abusive exercise of a profession and money laundering, owing €70m to various wealthy figures, including Antonio Conte, Marcello Lippi and Stephan El Shaarawy.

His wife, former Miss Italy Arianna Iacomelli, will not be held accountable for the crimes, nor will his brother Tommaso Bochicchio. Both were investigated for fraud. Iacomelli has renounced her inheritance and will have to leave their home in Salario, asking for a release of around €500,000 and objects belong to the children.

Tottenham coach Conte was owed more than €20m by Bochicchio, who embezzled the money and diverted it for his brother and wife, leading to their involvement in the investigation. This investigation has also been closed following Bochicchio’s death.

The only investigation still open relating to the former broker relates to his death, and whether it was simply an accident or something more nefarious.
