No Champions League, no problem: Why Chiesa could snub Newcastle for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is a long-time admirer of Federico Chiesa and the German tactician may be a key factor in the future of the Juventus winger despite the lack of Champions League football for Liverpool in 2023-24.

Chiesa’s contract expires in June 2025 but the Bianconeri are ready to listen to offers for the exciting winger. Several Premier League clubs have shown interest in the ex-Fiorentina star, but no bid has yet been submitted.

Liverpool and Newcastle United are among the clubs in the front row for Fede who can leave Turin for €60m this summer.

Gazzetta confirmed on Thursday that Klopp is a long-time admirer of Chiesa. Journalist Fabiana Della Valle wrote that despite the lack of Champions League football next season, the opportunity to play for the Reds under the German boss is intriguing for Chiesa who is ready to consider an offer from the Reds.

On the other hand, Aston Villa don’t seem to have many chances as Chiesa is looking for a bigger club as his next destination.

Newcastle still have a fair chance of signing Chiesa, especially after securing the services of Sandro Tonali from Milan.

It is believed that Chiesa is not on good terms with Massimiliano Allegri and the coach’s decision to switch to a 3-5-2 system in the second part of the season hasn’t suited the 25-year-old. The Italian reportedly wants to play as an attacking winger in a 4-3-3 system, the same one used by Liverpool and Newcastle.
