Arsenal have an option to extend Jorginho’s contract until June 2025, and after his impressive display against Liverpool, the decision over his future ‘feels like a no-brainer’ says journalist Simon Collings.

Jorginho’s contract at the Emirates Stadium expires at the end of the season, but the Premier League giants have an option to extend the Italy international’s stay by 12 months, reports the London Evening Standard.

Jorginho, 32, has made 22 appearances with the Gunners across all competitions this season and started his first Premier League game since November on Sunday in a 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Emirates Stadium.

The Italy international heavily contributed to Arsenal’s victory and was named MOTM against the Reds.

Evening Standard journalist Simon Collings has analysed Jorginho’s transfer situation saying that the Gunners should not hesitate to activate their option to extend the midfielder’s contract.

‘The 32-year-old was everywhere, having more passes and touches than any other player on the pitch. He also topped the charts for interceptions,’ noted Collings.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta praised Jorginho on Sunday saying the ex-Napoli and Hellas Verona midfielder put in an ‘unbelievable’ performance against the Reds.

Jorginho has scored five goals in 50 appearances with Italy’s national team, making his debut with the Azzurri in 2016 and winning the Euros in 2021.
