EA Sports has announced that AS Roma will not be in FIFA 21, as the Giallorossi have not granted them the required licence to use the club’s name and players.

AS Roma will turn into ‘Roma FC’ in the upcoming EA Sports FIFA 21, one year after Juventus turned into ‘Piemonte Calcio’ in the last version of the video game.

“AS Roma will now be Roma FC, playable and equipped with a custom badge and kit throughout Kick-Off, Career Mode, FIFA Ultimate Team and VOLTA FOOTBALL,” Electronic Arts (EA) said in a statement on their official website.

“And Roma FC will now compete in Stadion Olympik. You can still expect to see the same AS Roma real-world, authentic players and related likenesses in EA SPORTS FIFA 21 and EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.

“Player Chemistry within EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Ultimate Team will be unaffected by these changes.

“We’d like to thank everyone at AS Roma for the years of collaboration as the team’s Official Sports Video Gaming partner.”

Inter, on the other hand, have signed a ‘multi-year partnership’ with Electronic Arts and promises to ‘deliver innovative, world-class entertainment for fans’.

“This new agreement with Electronic Arts is instrumental for the club to provide world-class entertainment to our fans, on and off the pitch,” Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonelli told Inter’s official website.

“Innovation is at the core of our strategy and we believe that working together with a leader in gaming and e-sports will help us in our objective to get closer to new generations of football lovers worldwide.”
