Italy Under-21 CT Paolo Nicolato believes there is more to come from his side after their 5-0 demolition of Luxembourg on Tuesday.

Nicolato’s Azzurrini won their first European U21 Championship qualifier resoundingly, with Everton striker Moise Kean scoring a penalty and Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo also getting another game.

“It was a good Italy performance, but we can improve,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“In the first half, perhaps, we had a bit too much of the ball.  Our style of play tends to wear down opponents like these, who tend to sit back, finding some extra space on the break.”

Kean and Zaniolo were again brought off as Riccardo Sottil and Davide Frattesi took their places in the second half.

“I needed someone who played wider than Kean. Moise tended to come inside more and on the bench I had Riccardo who, on the other hand, is very good at that kind of game.

“I have many quality players and, if I can, I’ll use them.”
