Italy U20 Coach Paolo Nicolato said they “just won’t stop surprising” after beating Mali to reach the U20 World Cup semi-finals.
The Azzurrini are still unbeaten in the tournament with four wins and a draw, pushing past 10-man Mali 4-2 this afternoon, and will face Ukraine on Tuesday.
“This team just won’t stop surprising, we are truly experiencing this dream with intensity,” Nicolato told reporters after the victory.

“It was a very difficult game against a strong opponent, but these lads know how to fight through difficulties in any situation. Mali proved against Argentina already that they never give in and have so much quality in attack, but we emerged in the long run.
“We didn’t let our heads drop after the two equalisers and I am proud of this group.”
