New Genoa coach Davide Nicola is currently working at the training centre, but it’s reported he hasn’t been confirmed because the club wants to first terminate Thiago Motta’s contract.

Nicola arrived last night to work out the final details and agree a six-month deal, with option to extend for another season if he manages to avoid relegation.

He is also at the club’s Pegli training ground today with his staff, but has not yet been announced in his role.

He is also at the club’s Pegli training ground today with his staff, but has not yet been announced in his role.

This will make him Genoa’s third coach of the current campaign, as Aurelio Andreazzoli was sacked on October 22 to make way for Thiago Motta.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the delay in announcing Nicola is because Genoa are trying to negotiate a termination of Thiago Motta’s contract by mutual consent.

This would ensure the club doesn’t have three different coaches on the payroll at the same time.

The Grifone are currently bottom of the Serie A table after two wins, five draws and 10 defeats.
