Torino coach Davide Nicola praises his players after an away 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona: ‘It is a fair result.’

Mërgim Vojvoda broke the deadlock with five minutes remaining at the Stadio Bentegodi, but Federico Dimarco scored the equalizer less than two minutes later.

“We have regrets as the target was close, but the draw is a fair result,” Nicola told DAZN.

“The lads are giving everything. They are training every day in a very smart way, and we are trying to improve under every aspect. The weight of the result is different in these games and I can see right commitment,” the coach continued.

“Their goal came after a series of mistakes, not just one. We had already risked before, when they created trouble for us. The important thing is to keep believing and have consistency.

“I had told the lads we needed everyone’s help. We picked up a point and we must get ready for the next game, which will be very important.

“Today’s draw is a positive result because stats prove Verona are a very strong side when it comes to counterattacking and win individual duels. They have many points, so credit to them because they’ve been proving their qualities during the entire season.”

The Granata will play the rescheduled fixture from matchday 25 against Lazio on May 18. They are hovering four points above Benevento who sit third from the bottom.

“We believe we can make it, we are aware we have to fight until the end, four games are remaining, one every three days,” Nicola claimed.

“I am happy for the lads, because we have 20 starters and everyone has been helpful so far.”
