Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez jokes that he ‘wanted to kill’ Lautaro Martinez after his brace against the Tuscans over the weekend and tells his teammate Lucas Beltran to ‘enjoy every moment’ with the national team.
The Argentinean strikers reunited after Sunday’s Inter-Fiorentina, travelling to South America to play with La Seleccion. Speaking to TycSports in Argentina, Nico gave some advice to his new Fiorentina teammate Beltran.
“It’s all new for him, but he’s enjoying it. He’s like a brother to me. Now he must enjoy this because you never know when it can happen again, so you just have to enjoy it.”
Nico knows it well, as he was dropped from the Argentinean squad due to an injury ahead of the 2022 World Cup, which was eventually won by his national team.
“I am a happy guy, every time I wear this shirt I am happy,” he said.
“What happened belongs to the past and after that moment, I’ve been thinking that I need to enjoy it more, enjoy every day being here with my teammates and many friends.”
Lastly, he joked about his compatriot Lautaro Martinez, scorer of a brace in a 4-0 Inter victory against Fiorentina on Sunday.
“I wanted to kill him,” he said, smiling. “But he’s a friend of mine and we came here together.”
