Reports say Milan’s M’Baye Niang is recovering well from injury and hopes to play in the Coppa Italia final against Juventus on 21 May.

The 21-year-old had been in good form until he was stopped abruptly by an ankle injury at the end of February.

There were fears the blow could rule out the French forward for the rest of the season, but Gazzetta dello Sport reports today that the cup final is a realistic target for Niang.

There were fears the blow could rule out the French forward for the rest of the season, but Gazzetta dello Sport reports today that the cup final is a realistic target for Niang.

The newspaper writes that there is cautious optimism about his recovery at Milanello, as the forward began his recovery programme last week following surgery on 11 March.

In a few weeks Niang will be checked on by Professor Van Dijk, when it will become clearer if he will be available for cup final day.

The striker is believed to be determined to recover in time for the clash with Juventus, having scored five goals in 16 Rossoneri appearances so far this season.
