Milan have released a statement confirming M’Baye Niang suffered an ankle injury in a car crash.

It emerged this morning that the forward had been involved in a car crash over the weekend, though it was made clear he was not under the influence of alcohol.

Now the Rossoneri have released an official statement on the incident, confirming that the Frenchman has suffered two injuries.

“AC Milan communicates that M’Baye Niang has suffered an injury to the capsular ligament in his left ankle, as well as bruising to his left shoulder following a car accident,” the statement on the Diavolo’s website read.

“The treatment plan will be decided upon in the coming days.”

It’s not the first time Niang has been involved in car controversy, as he was given an 18-month suspended sentence in 2014 for abandoning the scene of an accident.

He was also caught driving without a licence shortly after arriving at Milan, claiming to be teammate Bakaye Traore when he was pulled-over.
