Brazilian star Neymar has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and his ex-PSG teammate Marco Verratti sent him a message on social media.

Neymar was forced off the pitch during Brazil’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat against Uruguay on Wednesday. His club Al-Hilal have then confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear for the 31-year-old.

Verratti, a close friend of Neymar and one of his former teammates at PSG, took to his official Instagram account to send a message to the Brazilian star.

The Italian midfielder, who also left PSG last summer, shared a picture of him and Neymar celebrating a goal for the Ligue 1 giants and wrote in Spanish and Italian: “Always with you, come on my friend.”

Verratti joined Qatari side Al-Arabi last month, leaving PSG after 11 years.
