Edy Reja is suspended, so assistant Giovanni Lopez notes “the next eight games will tell Lazio how far we can go.”

The Biancocelesti visit Genoa on Thursday in their bid to keep up with Serie A leaders Milan.

“We will try to win tomorrow,” said assistant manager Lopez in his Press conference.

“We prepared well to face an excellent Genoa side with players of great quality. Tomorrow Reja will be with us up to a few moments before kick-off, so he'll be preparing the squad, as always.

“We prepared well to face an excellent Genoa side with players of great quality. Tomorrow Reja will be with us up to a few moments before kick-off, so he'll be preparing the squad, as always.

“There will not be problems, as I have worked with Reja for a year now and think I know what he wants from the lads.”

This represents a reunion with Genoa boss Davide Ballardini, who was sacked by Lazio last term to make way for Reja.

“I never met him, but I spoke to the players and I don't think they have anything against their old Coach,” added Lopez.

“The next eight games in a month will tell Lazio how far they can go and what the ambitions can be for this team.

“The squad realises it can make a step up in quality and that if we can do well in these eight matches, then we can really achieve something important.”
