Il Corriere dello Sport rated Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni 7/10 saying the 24-year-old proved to be the ‘best Italian defender.’

Bastoni scored Inter’s fourth goal in a 4-2 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday and was among the best players on the pitch in the capital.

Il Corriere dello Sport rated Bastoni 7/10 adding that the ex-Parma and Atalanta defender “surely is” the best Italian centre-back at the moment.

Former Juventus and Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini has recently said the same thing, crowning Bastoni as the best centre-back in the country.

Bastoni has played 25 games across all competitions with Inter this season and his goal against Roma was his first one in 2023-24.

The Italy international made his senior Azzurri debut in November 2020 and has collected 21 appearances with La Nazionale.

Bastoni revealed earlier this week that he had pushed to leave the Stadio Meazza in 2019, but Antonio Conte eventually persuaded him to stay.

The 24-year-old added that he doesn’t see himself elsewhere in the future. His contract with the Serie A giants expires in June 2028.
