After Antonio Conte, now Jose Mourinho has been suggested as an ideal coach for Newcastle United, but he is under a three-year contract with Roma.
The Premier League club has just completed the takeover, worth circa €325m, by Saudi investment fund PIF.
They are preparing to pour money into the transfer kitty and sack current manager Steve Bruce, but finding a successor worthy of their ambitions is proving difficult.
Conte is a free agent after terminating his contract with Inter by mutual consent and has Premier League experience at Chelsea.
However, he seems unimpressed by the idea of taking over a club mid-season, especially one that had such a bad start to the campaign already.
Now former player Danny Mills has suggested Mourinho would be the ideal candidate, just months after he was dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur.
“If you’re talking about being given money to build a team and be relatively successful, I’d go with Mourinho,” Mills told talkSPORT radio.
“If you give Jose enough money and allow him to do what he wants to do, he will guide you to success quicker than probably anyone else.
“Newcastle can go slowly and survive this season. Next season finish in the top half, then top six.”
Mourinho only signed a three-year contract with Roma over the summer, so far overseeing nine victories and two draws in all competition.
He called this the biggest “challenge” of his career precisely because he doesn’t have unlimited funds to bolster the squad.
