Sandro Tonali only joined Newcastle United on July 3, but destiny keeps calling him back to San Siro, first for Italy and then to face Milan in the Champions League.
The midfielder completed his transfer for a club record sale of €64m plus €6m in bonuses and a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.
He has made a good initial impression with the Magpies, scoring on his Premier League debut.
However, the draw of home is even stronger than usual, as over the next couple of weeks Tonali will be in some very familiar surroundings indeed.
The 23-year-old is currently on international duty with the Italy squad for a trip to North Macedonia on Saturday evening.
After that, the team will fly back to Milan for training, using the Rossoneri’s Milanello camp on Sunday September 9 and Monday September 10.
He’ll then step into San Siro for the EURO 2024 qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday night.
It’s going to be a whirlwind for Tonali, who then can fly back to Newcastle, only to return to the same stadium for the opening Champions League group game against Milan on Tuesday September 19.
