Newcastle United have drawn up an offer for Malick Thiaw but will need to increase the figures if they want to agree a deal with Milan.

The Magpies have been heavily linked with the 22-year-old German centre back for a number of weeks now, keen on the idea of adding him to Eddie Howe’s defence. His contract in the Lombardy capital lasts for another three years.

Milan are open to selling Thiaw, especially as they work on deals for targets like Strahinja Pavlovic and Lazar Samardzic, and are waiting to receive an official offer from Newcastle.

Milan set Thiaw terms

Page two of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Newcastle have drawn up a bid worth circa €30m for Thiaw, not enough to convince Milan, who want at least €40m to let the defender leave this summer.

Should the deal go through, the Rossoneri would look to bring in an accessible replacement like Brighton’s Igor or Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi, wanting to ensure Paulo Fonseca has enough options at the back.
