Newcastle United are reportedly ready to improve upon Valencia’s offer for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

The centre-back is on the market, as he has fallen down the pecking order over the last year and is not part of Andrea Pirlo’s plans.

Valencia had been the hot favourites for his signature, ahead of Sevilla, Fulham and West Ham United.

The centre-back is on the market, as he has fallen down the pecking order over the last year and is not part of Andrea Pirlo’s plans.

Valencia had been the hot favourites for his signature, ahead of Sevilla, Fulham and West Ham United.

However, now Sportitalia claim that Newcastle United are stepping in with an offer that is higher than the Valencia bid.

Newcastle are looking to Serie A for new defenders, as they have also been in talks with Sampdoria for Gambia international Omar Colley.

Rugani is 26 years old and moved from Empoli to Juve in 2015, but never managed to become a regular in the starting XI.
