Newcastle United have reportedly offered €10m for Roma player Carles Perez.

According to Sportitalia, the Magpies made the proposal in cash and it is being given some serious consideration.

Genoa and Torino had also been linked with a loan, but the possibility of selling the 23-year-old would certainly be more intriguing.

The concern is that Roma paid €12m plus bonuses to sign him from Barcelona, initially on loan in January 2020 and then on a permanent basis, so Newcastle might have to raise the bid slightly.

Perez contributed three goals and as many assists in 31 competitive games for the Giallorossi last season, playing primarily as a creative midfielder more than on the right wing.

Tellingly, there were only six Serie A starts and the Spaniard does not appear to be part of new coach Jose Mourinho’s plans either.

His versatility may have been damaging under Paulo Fonseca, as he can play on either flank or in a creative midfield role.
