Newcastle are reported to be keeping a close eye on the development of Monza wing-back and former Brazilian youth international Carlo Augusto according to the papers.
The 24-year-old is enjoying a solid season in the Italian top flight after winning promotion via the Serie B playoffs with the Biancorossi at the back end of last season.
In 2022-23, Augusto has five goals and five assists from 27 Serie A appearances so far as Monza look relatively comfortable in the mid-table section of the league standings.
Although predominantly deployed as a left wing-back in Raffaele Palladino’s 3-4-2-1 system, Augusto is versatile, can play on the left of a back four and has also been utilised at centre-back at certain points of his career.
Augusto was brought to Monza from Corinthians in the summer of 2020 for a fee of around €4 million and has been monitored by scouts from across Europe ever since according to Tuttomercato.
The report claims that Newcastle are among the most interested parties who would like to make a move for the flying full-back.
