Napoli are largely resigned to losing Kim Min-jae this summer, but Manchester United face competition from Newcastle United over the South Korea international.

The centre-back had a magnificent debut season with the Partenopei, named Serie A Defender of the Season as he helped them to win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.

There is a release clause in his contract worth circa €50-60m – depending on bonuses and other details – that will drop to a lower figure from 2024.

A sale this summer therefore seems inevitable and Il Mattino newspaper reports Kim Min-jae already had his furniture and personal effects removed from his home in Naples.

However, while Manchester United were the undoubted favourites, now Talk Sport claim Newcastle United are making a bid to poach the defender.

While it is known that Kim Min-jae would like a Premier League experience, Newcastle United can also boast Champions League qualification after their fourth-place finish.

  1. Why when they already have superior players? Burn should be moved to the centre, and instead they should buy a left back. The lanky lump won’t be up to the task.
