La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Juventus will change the terms of the agreement for Paulo Dybala’s contract, so the striker’s stay at the club is now in doubt.
The Argentinean star sees his current deal expire at the end of the season and the Bianconeri had reportedly reached an agreement over a new €10m-a-year contract, including add-ons.
Dybala currently gets €7.3m-a-year plus bonuses.
His agent had travelled to Turin many times to put pen to paper on a new agreement, but the two parties never shook hands and Dybala is now eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with any other club.
Club CEO Maurizio Arrivabene said the Bianconeri would sit down with the player and his representative in February.
Juventus CEO Arrivabene: ‘Everyone has to earn their place in the team’
“We said we’d sit down with the players again in February to take time to evaluate,” he told DAZN on Sunday.
“Everyone has to earn their place in the team and has to prove that they’re worth what they decide, no ifs, ands or buts.
“Everyone has to prove their worth, managers, players and coaches. We’ll see in the next few games if they prove it. Let’s look ahead and try to achieve the goals we have set ourselves.”
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus won’t offer Dybala €10m per year in the next meeting.
The Bianconeri may put his current €7.3m-a-year salary on the table or even offer him a lower salary, throwing into doubt his stay at the club.
Juventus are struggling financially and registered a loss of nearly €210m in 2020-21.

So you want to punish a player who bleeds black and white, because your front office wasted away millions on CR7, Rabiot, Ramsey and Arthur? You want players to be loyal to the club, but make them sacrifice because the team is mismanaged? Smart business model Agnelli. And before anyone says anything about Dybala and injuries, prior to last year he had played over 40 games a year since he arrived. Can the medical staff and can the President.
Agree fulley with John…this management going nowhere fast….
Arivabene should do a Arrivederci instead….go back to F1 and save some money there if you can..
Don’t agree with this heavy handed approach (though dybalas agent is an absolute clown who couldn’t negotiate a deal to brush his own teeth in the morning). Juve aren’t negotiating from a position of strength and are really putting Dybala in a position to walk from this unappreciative ungrateful club.
And frankly wouldn’t blame him in the least. We’ll see how tough this stooge talks when they watch another €40m wasted out the door.
Struggling financially? Who’s fault is that? Yes president too busy with creating Super League thinking he can spend ridiculously on players but thankfully SL never took off thanks to English Fans
Remember that Juve tried to sell Dybala before so this management doesn’t fully trust him to lead this team on his own
Dybala is not consistent enough for me to deserve backing up the Brinks truck. Grande Arrivabene!
Hopefully the era of over paid free transfers are gone as well!
I would extend with Dybala but not for £10m as despite his talent he is not getting any younger and injuries will be common given that factor. Juventus is bigger then any individual and we have seen the survival without Baggio, Del Piero, Zidane and many more yet gone on to thrive. This will be no different with Dybala who was not even as influential as the names just mentioned. We lose if he goes on a free but save on the wages. Surely if we do not get top 4 it is finally time to revamp the midfield completely and address other areas as well.
Arrivabene…va a cagare!!!
I don’t disagree with comments made that no one is bigger than the Juventus jersey. Apparently Agnelli (the EGO himself) hasn’t gotten the memo on this fact. However, I want to add that Dybala asking for 10 million euros to continue his career at Juventus is not a crazy request. Do we think that De Ligt, Szczesny, Bonucci, Sandro, Rabiot and Ramsey are worth 10 million? Outside of De Ligt, i’d only pay Dybala that amount. If we want to change the entire philosophy of Juventus and go the way of Atalanta in terms of payroll, then we might as well bring up the U23 team and lower our payroll 140 million euros and not have anyone over 5 million.
If Dybala is not worth 11 million euros, having scored 9 goals in 1290 minutes (143 min a goal), then is Ronaldo really worth 52 million euros, having scored 14 goals in 1758 minutes (125 min a goal)?
Juventus is a different team with Dybala on the field. And now that Chiesa is out until October/November of this year, you better make sure the alternatives on the market at 10 million euros or more are better than a healthy Dybala.
Fire the medical team and boot Agnelli to a fantasy football site to go manage.
This Arrivabene is playing a risky game here, does he know Dybala is already free to negotiate with any club?!
The initially proposed 8M+2M in performance bonuses is not valid any more.
Club wants to pay him more based on performances rather than base salary.
From what I`m reading, the new contract is not 5 years but only 3 years long.
Factor these all in and you see the risk of Dybala walking away for free.
Agreed. It’s a game of chicken, and if Arrivabene thinks he’s going to field a Champions League team without Dybala and a returning ACL injured Chiesa, he better go back to F1 and figure out why they can’t beat Mercedes or Red Bull.
If this management team thinks letting Dybala go is not going to factor in De Ligt staying, or Pogba coming? They are on some serious meds.
Keep playing with fire Arrivabene and Agnelli. We will be mid table at best in 2022/23.
He does not deserve what’s he’s asking for. He’s too injury pron and it’s not worth it.
But it’s perfectly OK for Allegri to be earning $9 mill a season for 4 years!!! And what for? Sterile, unproductive, unattractive football where players are confused, have no game plan and struggle to beat the teams above them. Dybala when fit and firing does make the difference.
Be ready guys to see our No. 10 at inter scoring goals for fun against us.
