A new proposal to move the Stadio Della Roma project to the area near Fiumicino Airport has emerged after yet more arrests and delays.

The plans to build in the Tor di Valle site were finally given some form of approval by the local authorities, only for the whole affair to be caught up in an investigation into possible corruption.

With yet more arrests this week and the politicians involved in giving the all-clear to this and other projects either quitting or being dismissed, the situation remains in absolute chaos.

The Corriere dello Sport claims Roma President Jim Pallotta is prepared to sue to local council in order to get his stadium built.

Meanwhile, a new suggestion has been put forward by Roma Club Portus, who point out Fiumicino is ready and waiting.

“Seeing as there is an evident political problem that puts a new obstacle on Roma’s path every time, and seeing as there is already an area set aside for new buildings, why not bypass the Rome Council and give Fiumicino this opportunity?” club President Fabrizio Baldovini told Il Faro.

“They won’t have to request permission to build, because the area has already been set aside for houses, shops and various other structures with a specific square footage.”

Transport links would also not be too much of a problem, considering Fiumicino is the area housing one of the biggest airports in Italy.

On the other hand, one of the biggest issues with the Tor di Valle site is the building of a bridge and potential extension of the Metro line to provide access.

While all the other Serie A clubs who were able to build their own arenas worked with local councils to repurpose an existing structure, Roma have tried to create a new venue from scratch.
