It’s reported Italian stadiums will remain at 75 per cent capacity, but fans will be ordered to wear their masks at all times and the Green Pass remains mandatory.

The latest wave of COVID-19 is sweeping across the globe due to the Omicron variant, which is much more easily transmitted than previous versions of the virus.

The two rounds of Serie B games set for over the Christmas period have been postponed because of the growing number of cases among players and staff.

It is hoped also that this will give everyone time to get booster shots.

Meanwhile, in Germany and Belgium the stadiums are being shut down to supporters, with games played behind closed doors to stop the spread.

That does not seem to be the case in Italy, where according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Government will maintain the current 75 per cent capacity.

Only those with a Green Pass can enter, so with proof of vaccination status or recent recovery from COVID-19, but a recent negative swab is no longer acceptable as a form of entry.

The other indication is that FFP2 level masks must be kept on at all times, even in open-air arenas.

This has already been suggested, but will now be clamped down on with potential fines.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the Green Pass must be renewed every six months rather than nine months.
