Thierry Henry has announced that Khephren Thuram dropped out of the France squad for the Olympics, confirming his new club Juventus blocked him.
The midfielder is set for his Juve medical over the next couple of days, completing a transfer for €20m plus up to €5m in various very difficult to achieve add-ons from OGC Nice.
Tuttosport had reported today that the Bianconeri were frustrated they would only manage to get him working with coach Thiago Motta once the Serie A season had already kicked off.
Juventus ask Thuram to abandon Olympics dream
That issue has now been resolved, because coach Henry announced in a press conference this evening that Thuram has now withdrawn from the squad for the Olympics.
The tournament is hosted in Paris from July 24 to August 9 with France as clear favourites, especially as the host nation.
Thuram is 23 years old and has one senior cap for France, along with two at Under-23 level and 18 for the Under-21 side.
