Angel Di Maria has sustained another muscular injury playing for Juventus in the Champions League against Maccabi Haifa, and it would seem to be his right flexor, which is also worrying for Argentina.

The midfielder was running after a pass in midfield just 24 minutes into the match when he suddenly pulled up clutching the back of his right thigh.

The 34-year-old immediately turned to the bench and shook his head sadly, knowing full well this was yet another muscular strain.

He limped off, to be replaced by Arkadiusz Milik in Israel, but the latest injury is another huge blow for Max Allegri’s side.

It is also worrying for the Argentina squad so close to the 2022 World Cup, which is just over a month away in Qatar.

They already have Paulo Dybala potentially missing the tournament after tearing a muscle in his thigh while taking a penalty for Roma on Sunday.

Di Maria was only just due to return in Serie A after sitting out a two-match ban for elbowing Monza defender Armando Izzo.

  1. With PhD Max anything is possible. The legend of putting fans to sleep, 10 seconds after kick off is a genius considering his training schedule is the lightest. Bigger clubs and former players have spilled the beans. Conte is a work horse and no such issues. But hey Shaolin revolutions Max is a 2 time CL silver medalist.
