Just hours before their game against Lazio, Salernitana announced another three players have COVID-19, while Cagliari also have three senior players and five youth team players test positive.
The new protocol is in place from this weekend, so Serie A and B games will go ahead as long as up to 35 per cent of the squad is not positive for COVID-19.
Salernitana are not far off that figure, as today they announced another three players have tested positive, taking the total at the club to six.
It is still a big reduction compared to last week, when they had at least 10 out of action.
Meanwhile, Cagliari cancelled the planned press conference for coach Walter Mazzarri, because three players – Simone Aresti, Raoul Bellanova and Matteo Lovato – tested positive.
Christian Oliva was the only remaining member of the Sardinian group who still had COVID-19.
There are also five youth team players who have tested positive, but they were not in contact with the senior squad.
