Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has already given a hint as to his side’s tactics when they visit Inter in the Champions League on Wednesday.

They are in the so-called Group of Death with Barcelona and Viktoria Plzen, with the Nerazzurri kicking off at San Siro against the German champions.

Bayern had their typical start to the season, beating RB Leipzig 5-3 in a DFL Supercup thriller, then hammering Eintracht Frankfurt 6-1 and VfL Bochum 7-0 away from home.

However, they were held to back-to-back 1-1 draws by Borussia Monchengladbach and Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.

“Inter are an intelligent side who can defend very well, but I think they will be more likely to come out and play than Union Berlin,” Neuer told reporters.

“That way we can try to steal the ball in midfield and it’ll be a shorter run to the opposition goal.”

While Inter certainly did have a solid defence last season, when winning the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, the current campaign has shown problems.

Simone Inzaghi’s men kept just one clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Spezia and already suffered two defeats in five Serie A rounds, to Lazio and Milan.

Their only victories were against relegation battlers Lecce, Spezia and Cremonese.
