Fiorentina goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu believes the competition offered by his outgoing colleague Norberto Neto is beneficial to the team.

Neto has turned down offers to renew his contract and will depart at the season's end, and the resulting case fired Tatarusanu to the front lines of the team.

“There's a good relationship between professionals and we don't have any problems,” the Romanian has said of his Brazilian colleague, in an interview with La Nazione.

“He's not just a professional, he also has great talent. I'm not worried about having competition – it's healthy for me and for the team.

“We'll see who will join the team in the future,” he said, in reference to the possibility that Fiorentina may purchase a new 'keeper. “Of course, I feel like Fiorentina's starting goalkeeper.

“I work every day to be the number one and I want to stay here for a long time. My wife and I are very happy here and we have a good relationship with the city and with the supporters.”

The 29-year-old then recalled his debut against Parma, after Neto was benched.

“I felt ready. I'd already been a starter in the Europa League, but it was an odd game because all the things that happened with Neto made the atmosphere far from ideal. Even the warm-up felt awkward.

“We played some good games before Parma too, but since then we've been doing exceptionally well and we only lost to Lazio.”
