The return of Euro 2024 qualifiers throws up some exciting clashes and these Netherlands vs. Greece predictions look at the latest picture in Group B. Ronald Koeman is aiming to steer the Dutch to the tournament in Germany next summer, alongside group favourites France.
1 – A draw – 15/4
2 – Netherlands under 2.5 total goals – 4/9
3 – Total goals scored under 2.5 – 1/1
4 – Both teams to score – 11/10
5 – A 1-1 draw – 8/1
The qualification battle in Group B is tightly poised heading into the autumn matches, with France on course to top the group if Didier Deschamps’ World Cup runners-up remain on track.
Greece, the Netherlands, and the Republic of Ireland look set to fight it out for second place, with Ronald Koeman’s Oranje and Gus Poyet’s Greece also holding a UEFA Nations League back-up route via the playoffs.
Koeman’s return to the top job in the Netherlands has not been a smooth ride since the start of 2023 after he replaced Louis van Gaal following a quarter-final World Cup exit. The Netherlands were brushed aside in a 4-0 loss against France to kick off Euro 2024 qualifying, and that was followed by two defeats in the summer UEFA Nations League final series against Croatia and Italy. A 3-0 win over minnows Gibraltar is Koeman’s only victory this year and his team need to pick up momentum in the coming weeks.
But Greece have a key advantage, picking up the obligatory win over Gibraltar before securing a crucial 2-1 victory against Stephen Kenny’s Ireland. Defeat to France in their final summer fixture will not have dampened Poyet’s optimism too much, as they ended the game with ten men and lost out to a Kylian Mbappe penalty.
Koeman’s Dutch side have little to build on, with their only goals scored in qualifying coming against Gibraltar, while Greece have conceded just two goals in three qualifiers. If the game ends in a draw it will put major pressure on Koeman, as the Dutch head to Dublin to face Ireland three days later.

Netherlands (4-2-3-1): Bijlow; Dumfries, Geertruida, van Dijk, Ake; De Jong, Wieffer; Malen, Koopmeiners, Simons; Gakpo
Greece (4-2-3-1): Vlachodimos; Baldock, Retsos, Chatzidiakos, Tsimikas; Kourbelis, Mantalos; Masouras, Bakasetas, Pelkas; Giakoumakis
Koeman made just one starting change between their UEFA Nations League semi-final and third-place playoff defeats and is expected to stick by a familiar team here. Premier League trio Virgil van Dijk, Nathan Ake and Cody Gakpo are all set to start.
Gus Poyet will be forced into at least one change, with Konstantinos Mavropano suspended at centre back following a red card in the defeat to France. Panos Retsos is set to replace him and new Nottingham Forest keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos could start between the sticks.
